Headache

I've been getting headaches all week. And not just little annoying ones either. They are the kind that start at the base of your skull and wrap up to your temples and then just ache. It doesn't throb or pound. They just ache and feels like a vice is on my head.

The really sucky part is that when the headache goes on too long then it starts affecting other parts of me. The ache will then go down my neck and into my shoulders. There have been a few this week that cause my muscles to twitch. Trust me, it's a really fucked up feeling.

So I've been popping pain killers left and right. I've been drinking a lot of water, which isn't a bad thing but it does help with headaches. And then every now and then I get some caffeine in me to make sure it's not a caffeine headache.

Today I got really irritable due to the headache. Although I am getting better at telling Master why I am irritable or aggravated, etc.

Yep. It all goes back to the whole being bipolar thing. Up until my medication fully kicked in I would just experience the feeling and either a) not be able to figure out why I was feeling that way or b) basically refuse to explain it until Master dragged it out of me.

Not good. Well today I told Master I was irritable. He asked me why, so I told Him that it was because of my headache. He knows how bad my headaches can get, so He understood. He even offered to work on my neck and shoulders, which was really sweet of Him. Sometimes my headaches are due to muscle tension. So while we watched a movie He gave me a shoulder rub. That actually helped quite a bit.

He then had me go take a hot bath. Once that was done I popped a couple more pain pills and now it finally is feeling better. Headaches like to hang on to me apparently. The bastards.

  1. i'm really sorry to hear about your headaches. If there is anything i am able to relate to it's headache pain. For the last 13, going on 14 years, i haven't been headache free, not for even 5 minutes, unless of course i'm in a sleep state. Headaches are funny though, everyone has a differing opinion on what works and what absolutely doesn't work. So much so that people get angry or in fights when talking about headache advice! haha! That's why i never comment on headaches, this would be my first in the seven years i've been blogging, lol.

There are just a couple of things i wanted to suggest that you may not be doing that might help you. You mention that your neck almost always hurts and like you said, it's probably stress/tension headaches. So have you tried a chiropractor? In our town they can be really inexpensive and super effective.

A more cost effective treatment is an ice pack, everyone thinks "heat" to release pain but really not for a headache, ice is best. The people at my therapy told me never use heat on my head but i've heard differing stories about that too. So i always use ice packs and it works well.

One more thing; Rebounding. Are you at all familiar with that? It's most typical with narcotics like Vicodin, Percocet and the like but it's also very common with Excedrin. A rebound headache is just what it sounds like, the medicine makes the pain go away for the time being and then makes it "bounce back" but when it comes back, it's back full friggen force, like a hang over. So you take more, you get a worse headache, and the cycle continues.
Omgosh it sucks. That's rebounding. Anyway, you can stop rebounding but it's hard, tylenol is the best way to stop it but it's a slow process.

Okay, i'll shut up now. You might know everything i just told you, it's all pretty basic stuff, i just hate to think you're in pain and i might have been able to help.

    *hugs* take care.

  2. His treasure, thank you for all the advice. :-) I only take Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I don't have any prescription pain killers. I used to. I also used to have muscle relaxers but that was when I was a teenager. (I get migraines and I have fibromyalgia.)I don't go to those kind of doctors anymore (pain specialists) so I don't get those anymore. Although I should probably start looking into it again. I haven't been to a chiropractor in years. I may have to look into that as well. I'll probably try the ice packs next time I get a migraine or an extremely bad headache. No worries, I wouldn't take your head off when you're trying to help. :-) Thank you again!
