First Snow

It's not even Thanksgiving and we already had snow today. Granted it only stuck to cars and grass. It melted as soon as it hit the pavement. That's a good thing though because I somehow doubt the city has their salt trucks totally ready to go yet. Because they are fucking lazy idiots.

However, that did not change the fact that I had to wipe off my car. Well, let me correct that. It looked like I would just have to brush off the snow. But as I got closer to the car I realized that nope. I would need to scrape it. Fuck. Thankfully I keep the snow brushes in the car all year round. That may sound stupid but the last thing you want to do in the winters around here is to forget to put your snow brush back in the car when winter hits. I heard quite a few of my coworkers complaining that they hadn't put theirs in their car yet. See! Just keep it in the damn car and you don't have to worry about that shit. I always keep the snow brushes in the car as well as container of antifreeze.

But now I have to buy two twenty pound bags of kitty litter. No, we don't have a cat. I'm going to put one on each side of my truck, right by the tire wells. It'll add some weight to the car while driving in snow and slush. And our car is extremely light. I honestly didn't do it last year. Because I'm a damn moron. As a result she fishtailed quite a bit during the bad snow storms. Also, the kitty litter comes in handy if you get stuck. If you can't maneuver yourself out of it you can just use a small shovel to get the snow away from your tires and then use some of the kitty litter to put around each tire to help get some traction.

Speaking of which I have to double check whether or not I still have the small shovel in the car from last year. I can't for the life of me remember if it's in there. That's kind of funny since it would be in the trunk and I am constantly opening and closing it. But when you get use to seeing something in your trunk all year you tend to forget it's even in there. It may have broke last year during that really nasty snow storm where I could just barely get the car out of the parking spot. And even then it took me a half hour just to do that. That was fun.

So, checklist...
  • Two snow brushes. A smaller one and a longer one. Also it helps in case you have two people doing it at the same time. It makes it easier and quicker. - √
  • Two twenty pound bags of kitty litter to toss in the trunk. - Still needed.
  • A small shovel to use to dig the car out if necessary. - Unsure
Yeah. I need to get that little "Wisconsin Snow Kit" together. I'll probably get everything together this weekend. It's not supposed to snow the rest of the week. And even if it did it wouldn't be severe enough to warrant the "Wisconsin Snow Kit". I honestly feel like an idiot for not getting it all together last year. I had two out of the three and of course I didn't take care of the one that will add weight to the back of the car.

It's not like it snowing this early is shocking. Hell, it's snowed much earlier than this. I was just a little surprised by it because we haven't even had that much frost. There have only been a few occasions where I had to scrape frost off my windshield first thing in the morning before going to work.

So yeah, I had to scrape off all of the windows on the car. I had to brush off snow from my headlights and brake lights. I also had to force my car door open. One of these days I'm going to fall right on my ass while doing that. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet, after all these years, honestly. And then of course while in the car the front windows didn't want to roll down until about thirty-five minutes into the forty-five minute drive home.

Oh well. I'll be better prepared next time.

It Can Be Spring Now

Work went well today. It was more laid back than usual for me, with the change in job responsibilities. I even got praise from my trainer! Which was awesome.

Ya see my coworker and I switched job duties, per my supervisor's instructions, so that I can learn more of the department. I've been doing the same thing for 9 months, and he felt it was time for me to learn the other aspects of my job title. Well my coworker today realized just how hectic my old responsibilities can be! But she was being lazy about it. Someone walked up to her and asked her for something. Well she didn't have it done and it needed to go out in oh.. five minutes. So she was trying to push it off till tomorrow, and the person who was asking for it was not having it. So I did her a favor by going and getting something she needed to complete the task. My trainer saw this and said, "Wow! A team player! That's what I like to see. You're doing a great job, by the way." So that made me smile.

According to weather.com we're supposed to get between 6 to 10 inches of snow tomorrow. Fun. So the driver of the carpool said that she'd probably be leaving her house about 20 minutes early, so that means I have to get up earlier than usual to make sure I'm ready by the time she gets here.

This also means that the drive home will probably take forever, which will suck.

So yeah. I'm sick of the snow already and I want it to be warmer. Not like hot or anything, just above 40 degrees would be good. Just a few more months of this crap.

I'm just kind of here today. I think it is partially due to the coming weather, as well as the fact that since I don't want to sit back all the way due to my new tattoo, my shoulders are not happy with me. The things I put up with to decorate my skin. *giggles*

Both of our tattoos are healing nicely though. Master's is looking kick ass! Mine I can't see really well because of the placement, but Master assures me that it rocks. *nods* He says it is, there for it must be true. Plus the man has great taste in tattoos.

My father-in-law told me that instead of taking the carpool to work maybe I should go buy skis and get to work cross country style. I told him if I did that Master would have to find me, chisel me off the ground, and then light a fire somewhere so I could thaw out.

Finally

It's the four day weekend!

Last night I was exhausted, mentally, so while Master watched Saturday Night Live episodes, I fell asleep on the floor. He woke me up when He was ready to go to bed. Thankfully I had preset the alarm, so all I had to do was curl up to Master and pass the hell out. *laughs*

Our living room was freezing when I got up this morning. I quickly took a peek outside, and saw that it wasn't snowing. So I took my time getting ready, knowing that my ride wouldn't be early today.

Surprisingly Master got up shortly after I did and came into the living room, had a cigarette, and then kissed me and went back to bed.

The ride to work was fine. But work itself was boring as hell! I mean yes, okay I understand that we get a four day weekend. But when 85 % of the company is standing around talking because they have nothing else to do, you would think they would send us home early. But no. We got out at our normal time.

Which sucked, because about a half hour before I got out of work it was snowing rather heavily. It was all fluffy snow, but it was coming down at a decent rate. This made the ride home long, and a bit dangerous. We almost ended up hitting a guard rail getting onto the interstate because the car fishtailed and we weren't even going 20 mph. But we made it home safe and sound. Master called me when we were about 5 minutes from the apartment wondering where I was and if I was okay.

It had just been a long drive. We took it slow and steady.

After I got home I took care of the dog and have been relaxing ever since. We watched the first two episodes of Rome. It's okay. I prefer The Tudors. Maybe it's because it is so early in the season but it just seemed so.... dry. I don't know how else to describe it.

Plus one of the things I love about The Tudors is the way it's filmed. I don't know what it is they are doing, but the way the show looks is just... stunning. Not so much with Rome.

I don't know if we'll continue watching it or not.

Tomorrow we are going to my mother-in-law's house for dinner. Joy. Hopefully we won't be there to late.

Normally she'll tell us to show up right before dinner, like she is this time. She wants us to show up at 5pm. She says dinner will be ready shortly there after. But normally when she says that shortly there after turns into two to three hours later. Who knows. Maybe this time it will be different.

Snow

Well, it snowed today. I had no idea it was supposed to snow. Then again it may help if ya know.. I actually paid attention to the weather channel or something along those lines.

It didn't seem that bad when I looked out the window after I had finished getting ready for work.

But thanks to the city not knowing well enough to plow early, the drive to work sucked ass. I wasn't late or anything, thankfully. But it still sucked.

My supervisor held a very brief meeting for the department today. He handed us our bonus checks (rock on) and thanked us all for all of our dedication and hard work. He also had gotten each of us a decent sized box of chocolates. I brought them home with me so Master can help me eat them. I share, because I love Him. And also because I really don't want to be a pig and eat the whole box of chocolates myself. But mostly, it's due to love.

The drive home wasn't much better. It was bumper to bumper traffic most of the way, due to accidents and people forgetting how to drive apparently.

But I made it home safe and sound, so that's all that really matters.

I feel tired tonight. It was a boring and somewhat easy day at work, but it ticked by slowly. So I guess that has something to do with it. But thankfully tomorrow is technically my Friday since after tomorrow I'll have four days off of work.

So not a lot going on in my gray matter tonight. I feel just kind of ... lazy. And happy to be home with my Husband.
